How the CV score is calculated

The CVBoost score engine mirrors the checks a recruiter or an Applicant Tracking System actually performs during the first few seconds of screening a CV, split across eight weighted categories that add up to 100 points.

• Contact details (10 pts) — a valid email and phone number near the top of the document.
• Length (10 pts) — most CVs score best between roughly 200 and 800 words; too short reads as thin, too long loses the recruiter's attention.
• Core sections (20 pts) — Summary, Experience, Education and Skills should all be clearly present and labelled.
• Action verbs (15 pts) — bullet points that open with verbs like "led," "built" or "increased" instead of passive phrasing.
• Measurable achievements (15 pts) — numbers, percentages and amounts that prove impact instead of just listing duties.
• Clichés (10 pts) — deductions for vague filler like "hardworking" or "team player" with no evidence behind it.
• Bullet structure (10 pts) — short, scannable bullet points instead of dense paragraphs.
• ATS formatting safety (10 pts) — flags tables, columns and characters that many ATS parsers cannot read correctly.

What counts as a good score?

A score of 80 or above generally means your CV is close to ready to send, with only small wording tweaks left. A score between 60 and 79 usually points to one or two structural gaps — often missing measurable results or weak section headings. Below 60 typically means a core section is missing entirely, or the CV relies too heavily on clichés instead of evidence.
